At the expense of possibly angering some with this article, I would like to state that I was once a very patriotic American. I served my country as an enlisted man in the United States Army, 1st Armored Division; 2nd Battalion 81st Armor. I have voted in every national election since I turned 18 and most local elections since I turned thirty. I used to watch the nightly news and tell my wife that I "had to know what was going on in my world." That has all changed.

While I still have a small amount of faith in, and a great love for, the American people and those that decide to come here to pursue the American dream, I can´t help but come to the conclusion that America is fast becoming a dream unaccomplished and a detriment to the world. The same can and should be said about most of the western world, to include the United Kingdom, all of the EU and Australia. Politics and politicians have stolen the dream and sold it on the open market to the detriment of all of the world´s free citizens. This political corruption is essentially enslaving us to the industrial, agricultural and pharmaceutical behemoths that care little for anything but their bottom lines and total control over our lives.

Recently, the Codex Alimentarius (food code) has gone into effect across much of the planet. This is a code that could very easily become law in America were it not for the 1994 DSHEA Supplement Act. Codex essentially states that nutrients in our organic foods have no health benefits and the only thing that actually does benefit our health is pharmaceuticals. This law, if it were to go into effect, would effectively outlaw organic farming and give control of our agriculture to big Ag business that controls, manipulates and patents our seeds, crops and food supply.

Senator John McCain (Republican, Arizona) has recently introduced legislation that will pull what few teeth the DSHEA has and will pave the way for Codex to become law in America. Now, as any good politician will do, McCain has sponsored the Bill that would require supplement manufacturers to register with the FDA, using smoke and mirrors. This Bill may seem, as John McCain has stated in recent interviews, like a "no-brainer", but let´s look at the specifics of the argument. The FDA is a shill organization that works for and is controlled by, the pharmaceutical, Ag and processed food industry. This is obvious when one pays attention to the always evident revolving door policy of employment between officials within the governmental watchdog organization and the industries that they supposedly regulate.

McCain´s Bill is supported by all of the major sports regulating bodies and the US Olympic committee because the Bill is masquerading as one that protects athletes from banned substances in nutritional supplements. Pardon me for saying this, but once again, we as Americans are being asked to give up our freedom to support, purchase and stay healthy with nutritional supplements (as opposed to being slaves to dangerous and deadly pharmaceuticals) because wealthy athletes that make more from one multi-year contract than most of us will see in a lifetime, can´t read!

Make no mistake about this, McCain´s legislation is simply the case of another politician selling out the American people to big industry and is just one more example of why I can no longer trust or support my government. Is it any surprise to anyone reading this that the pharmaceutical companies stand to make a fortune when Americans are unable to purchase the supplements that keep many of us from ever needing their poisonous products?

If Americans wish to ensure their freedom to purchase, enjoy and benefit from healthy supplements, organic foods, fruits and vegetables free of pesticides and herbicides and meats and dairy free of antibiotics and hormones, we must not allow this socialist, freedom stealing, corporate shill of a politician to pass this legislation.

Recently, another government watchdog organization; The USDA, stated that there seemed to be no reason not to allow genetically modified "organic" alfalfa grass, because the American public doesn´t care enough about organic food for them to block the request from Monsanto. Genetically modified "organic" alfalfa? How in the hell does that happen? Round Up ready alfalfa grass that Monsanto is asking permission to claim as organic that will then be fed to our "grass fed" organic beef! The organic food industry is the fastest growing segment of the food industry, growing at an astronomical rate, even in these tough economic times.

This is the primary reason why I can no longer support or care about my government. Republican or Democrat, it doesn´t matter. Welcome to the Untied Industries of American! Where all of your health "care" needs will be treated with side effect and disease causing pharmaceuticals. Where genetically modified foods will soon be allowed to be labeled "organic". Where we, as law abiding citizens, will not be allowed to take a proactive stance against the need for future pharmaceuticals, by supplementing our diets with quality, non FDA bastardized supplements. Where Codex will allow companies like Monsanto, Merck, Glaxxo Smith Kline and others to control our lives from the cradle to the grave. One positive to this scenario: if they get their way, it will definitely be a much shorter life.
