Since the break up of the Soviet Union, Russia has made every effort to strengthen its ties with Europe and the US, inviting foreign companies to set up business in a lucrative new market and agreeing to restrictions on its military weapons. Unfortunately, the US and NATO have taken advantage of Russia´s willingness to "give", by increasing their desire to "take"

Regretfully, the Mainstream Media have shamefully used the recent conflict, between Georgia and Russia, to provide a propaganda blitz against Russia that is biased to the extreme. The public are being misled by the stories written, giving them a version of events that no longer has any connection with reality. Most of the "journalists" writing these stories have never been to the conflict zone, know absolutely nothing about Russia, and probably never venture more than a few feet away from their comfortable desks (except to use the toilet, grab a sandwich, or when they make their way home).

While there is still time! These so called "journalists" are nothing more than propaganda clerks, writing articles that they are told to write (for fear of losing their jobs). Their articles do nothing more than reflect the "opinions" of those who own the company they work for, which is usually very supportive of the Bush administration or Israel (or both).

There is nothing wrong with writing "opinion" based articles (I do them all the time), but let´s not try and pretend they are "unbiased" reports. They most definitely are not! Take Fox News for example, whose slogan is "We report, you decide". They report what others want them to report (like "leads" from the White House for example) and manipulate the information in such a way that your "decision" will be whatever they want it to be.

It is a method that has been successfully used for a very long time. Hitler used the power of the press to achieve his goals, the old Soviet Union did it, and the Mainstream Media of today are employing the same tactics.

The reason it works so well is because the public are.....Stupid! (I´m sorry, but there is no nice way to put it). Throughout history the public have accepted what their leaders tell them without question (with a few exceptions), foolishly believing that people like this couldn´t possibly tell such lies.

Whilst this "manipulation" has caused millions of deaths in our history, our planet has always survived. But maybe this was only because nuclear weapons didn´t always exist?

Unfortunately, now we have the means to totally annihilate each other. The two atomic bombs used by America on Japan are nothing compared to the thousands now available (and much more powerful). It´s not just the destruction of the target area that we need to be concerned about, but the contamination it will produce afterwards (all over the world!). If by some chance you survive an initial attack with nuclear weapons, you are only delaying the inevitable. The after effects will eventually kill you, only more slowly, and you may wish you were one of the earlier casualties.

If we must judge which countries have shown the most aggression in the last 10 years or so, let´s look at ALL the candidates. The US have invaded Afghanistan and Iraq (illegally), resulting in the deaths of more than 4,000 US troops, and the death and serious injury of around ONE MILLION others. Israel have constantly been "at war" with Palestine and its neighbors, and whilst it hasn´t produced as many deaths (yet), it is still a considerable number.

The wars involving the US and Israel have not been about defending their nations, they are about grabbing more power and stealing oil. The US attempts at encouraging ex-Soviet States to become "pro-Western" is not about "Freedom and Democracy", it is about surrounding Russia with a view to forcing a regime change, and then stealing its resources (oil again).

Russia DO NOT want a war (that I can promise you), they lost 20 million people in the last World War and their population still hasn´t recovered from that terrible loss. But they are not going to just sit on their backsides and watch the US do an "Iraq" on them, that will never happen. They will fight back and the response will be devastating (to everyone).

Despite the "propaganda" you read in the Mainstream Media, it is Russia that is being provoked. Russia was criticized for acting "disproportionately" to the attack by Georgia on South Ossetia, but now there are around 10 NATO warships in the Black Sea (near Georgia) and this is expected to double very soon. Does that sound like a well balanced response? Are the Media telling you this?

And have the Mainstream Media mentioned who supplied all the weapons to Georgia to make their attack possible in the first place? They came from the US, Israel and the Ukraine (and some apparently from France). And who have promised to rearm Georgia, so that its President (Saakashvili) can have another shot later?

Does this explain why Russia is reluctant to completely move out all of their troops from the conflict zone? Saakashvili has already stated that he won´t give up, which means he will use force again if the opportunity presents itself. If Russia were to listen to the West, many thousands more could die in a new attack, if they are not there quickly enough to prevent it.

Instead of arming Georgia to the teeth, shouldn´t the US (and others) encourage talks between Russia and Georgia? The dispute has existed for some time, but military force was not used until Saakashvili was given the means to try it. Georgia has been receiving weapons for almost 10 years, but did Bush suggest serious peace talks during that time?

Georgia clearly is being used for other purposes and peace is not on the agenda. It just so happens that Georgia is nearer to Iran than Israel is, which means Israeli fighter jets could carry out an air strike without having to refuel their planes. Is that a coincidence, and does that explain Israel´s military interest in the country? And what about the oil pipeline that is hoped to pass through Georgia and travel all the way down to Israel, another coincidence?

This information you won´t read too much about (if at all) in the Mainstream Media, but if you did, maybe you would see Russia in a different light. But some people don´t want you to think that Russia is not the "bad guy", how would they get the support for their own crimes if they allowed that?

Unfortunately, this "game" provides very real risks. It only takes one "accidental" shot, missile or sunken ship to spark off a full scale war, a war that will produce no winners!
